Gen 22 is the telling of the "obedience of Abraham". "God/YHWH did tempt Abraham, and said to him, Abraham: and he said, Behold, Here I am." WOW Abraham responded immediately, "Take now your son, your only son Isaac, whom you love, and get you into the land of Moriah; and offer him there for a burnt offering upon one of the mountains which I/YHWH will tell thee of." how's that for instructions !!! I don't believe abraham knew he was being tested until after the fact- ya' know hind site is 20/20 vision, always afterwards do we understand what just happened ! "on the third day Abraham lifted up his eyes, and saw the place afar off." The 3rd day ? hmmm that sounds familiar...."God/YHWH will provide Himself a lamb"...Abraham stretched forth his hand, and took the knife to slay his son...the Angel of the LORD/YHWH called to him out of Heaven, and said, Abraham, Abraham: and he said, Here am I... there's that rapid response again...YHWH tells Abraham- don't you do that...for now I know that thou fear God/YHWH, this is the test of Abraham. Abraham and Isaac are a shadow picture of YHWH[The LORD] and Yah'Shuah [jesus]. this is why sarah wasn't there ! Her test was whether or not she believed what the angel said about her having a child at the age of 90 years old! !!!!! yeap I can say i would doubt too !
oh yeah that "wood" Isaac carried...it was a tree...same like Yah'Shuah [jesus] actually ... Isaac carried his "cross" and Yah'Shuah [jesus] carried HIS "cross" ... a shadow picture of redemption...Isaac was a grown and obeyed his father just like Yah'Shuah did....so maybe Isaac had faith too? even though Isaac did not know what was going on until AFTER they returned home. and as an added bonus/layer WHOSOEVER believes on Yah'Shuah will be saved- WHOSOEVER believes is the "seed" of abraham ! [Gal 3:16 KJV] Now to Abraham and his seed were the promises made. He said not, And to seeds, as of many; but as of one, And to thy seed, which is Christ. It is interesting that the names are listed bcuz rebecca becomes Isaac wife ! Sarah and Abraham were famous leaders in the area that they lived in...Abraham was a "friend of YHWH" and heard HIS voice...Sarah knew what was going on.Abraham and Sarah are a "team" husband and wife they are "one". Rebecca is about 10 years younger than Isaac...please look into the family set up in the ancient near east so you can better understand what was going on. there is a lot we miss by not knowing about the culture over there. not the issue of "first born" it is about the PROMISE YHWH made to Abraham...go back and read THE PROMISE !!!!
